Chocolate Caramel Turtle Apples on Zenlogy Skewers

Chocolate Caramel Turtle Apples on Zenlogy Skewers

November is here, and with it comes one of the biggest food holidays of the year-- Thanksgiving! We have whipped up some yummy chocolate dipped turtle apples as an excellent dessert option for the upcoming holiday.

Ingredients you’ll need:

Apples - 3 (I used both Gala & Granny Smith)
Caramel Squares - 1 cup
Semi-Sweet Chocolate - 2 cups
Chopped Pecans - 1/2 cup
Coconut Oil - 2 tbsp

First, cut your apples into thick slices. I was able to get 8 slices out of the 3 apples, but it wasn’t easy. Once they were cut I put skewers into each slice and set them aside.

Next, put  2 cups of chocolate into a medium sized glass bowl and microwave in 30 second increments. Take them out and mix in some coconut oil and continue heating as necessary. I added one tablespoon at a time to give the chocolate more moisture. It ended up being 2 tbsps total and about 1 and a half minutes of heating before I was comfortable with the viscosity of the chocolate.

Dip your apples into the chocolate and use a spoon to make sure they’re completely covered. Place them on a parchment lined baking sheet so they don’t stick!

Now it’s time to melt your caramels. I poured the cup into a bowl and set them atop a boiling pot of water to steam them until they were moist. It took some time, but it was the best method to avoid burning the caramels.

Once they were melted, I used a spoon and slowly drizzled them over the chocolate covered apples. I added the chopped pecans on top of the caramel and chocolate for a better chance of them sticking and that was it!

Super easy to make and soo delicious! Let us know if you made them and how much you loved them in the comments!
